This evening my wife and I birded Hyrum Reservoir State Park. There were a couple of Caspian Terns flying over the reservoir. We first saw them near the dam and later at the Beach Area. Also at the Beach Area there were two Spotted Sandpipers. Out on the water we saw one Common Loon, about a dozen Eared Grebes, lots of Western Grebes, Red-breasted Merganser, Double-crested Cormorants, American White Pelicans, and the usual gulls (quite a few Franklin Gulls in the mix). We saw Northern Rough-winged swallows and one Western Kingbird flying over the dam. This was my last ditch effort to pad my species numbers for April. This has been my lowest species count for April in many years. You Antelope Island birders need to send some peeps up north.
