Today I went to the Sage Grouse Lek near Henefer at dawn and saw about 30 displaying male SAGE GROUSE plus several hens. Then I checked out East Canyon Res. were I saw many COMMON LOONS, plus some COMMON MERGANSER and various other waterfowl. Then I headed up to Deseret Land and Livestock were I saw 3 BURROWING OWLS in one of the Prairie Dog Town, plus at least 4 sub-adult GOLDER EAGLES hunting the dogs. Then I zipped over to Bear Lake, which is ice free, and saw lots of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS. Saw about 20 TURKEY VULTURS around too. Oh yea, and yesterday I saw a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD and a SAGE THRASHER on Standsbury Island. See my BURROWING OWL photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bryanto/3430661374/
Good Birding
