[Birdtalk] Crossbill Craze

Good Morning -

Since I wasn't having any luck attracting crossbills to my yard, I asked Jeff Bilsky if he could send a few my way.  I got home about 6:00 last evening and my birding neighbors, Steve and Lisa, told me the package had arrived around 2:00.  I watched until dark with no luck.

This morning the birds returned.  I counted 15 crossbills in all, including one male white-winged.  So that's yard bird #53 and #54 in six years (look out, Eric, I'm right behind you).  And all in a 25 x 25 condo yard in the heart of Holladay.

I've accomplished nothing in the past two hours except to admire the crossbills.  I love it when birding gets in the way of retirement!
