Started the morning in the snow and fog at Little Dell Reservoir. I didn't
see much on the water - no Loons but the weather was terrible and visibility
low. I counted at least 8 FOX SPARROWS in the trees North of the Reservoir.
Also had a flyover group of MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS.

Then off to Farmington Bay where I walked the entire road as far as you are
allowed to go. I had it to myself - well me and the birds - and it was
great. Counted 44 species. The highlights were 4 SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 8
LONG-BILLED CURLEWS, a HOODED MERGANSER (this was actually on the first pond
when you drive in on the left all the way at the South end by the rocks, a
female type), a handful of EARED GREBES and CLARK'S AND WESTERN GREBES, and
a whole bunch of TREE SWALLOWS and a few BARN SWALLOWS. My numbers below are
pretty rough, rounded estimates of what I saw - I wasn't really counting so
these are mostly conservative guesses.
