Carl Ingwell and I birded River Lane on Sunday morning and afternoon. It was
pretty active - especially when hiking the little chutes that go off the
main drag. Best migrants were a RED BREASTED NUTHATCH, 2 CASSIN'S VIREOS, 2
WARBLING VIREOS, a NASHVILLE WARBLER and a late WESTERN KINGBIRD. Also had a
nice look at a female or first year BLUE GROSBEAK. On the way there, in the
Springville Fields we did see a couple SWAINSON'S HAWKS including a nice
dark morph bird. Down by the lake, at the end of the drive, we saw 30 +
CASPIAN TERNS on a small embankment. A quick stop by Swede Lane wasn't very
active - just another WESTERN KINGBIRD. We did get a great look at a COMMON
NIGHTHAWK sitting on the side of the road though. Good Birding.
