[Birdtalk] Southshore Birding, BLACK TERN, SAGE SPARROW, etc

This monring (09/07) I birded along the southshore of the Great Salt Lake stopping at the International Center, the frontage road along Lee's Creek, Saltair Marina, and Lee Kay Ponds. Overall the number of migratns was low, but there was still a ggood variety of warblers, and sparrows. The IC was dairly dead. There were scattered warblers, msot notably an obvious push of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER as numerous were present along with 5 other species. A lone HOUSE WREN, and WESTERN TANAGER rounded out the migrants there. Highlights form the IC are as follows:

Along the frontage road there were a fair number of birds, the highlight being 8 species of sparrow, including 2 early WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, but more notably a SAGE SPARROW. There were also 5 species of warbler, including 4 MACGILLIVRAY'S in one bush. Highlights from the Lee's Creek area:

The ponds to the south of the road between the Saltair Pavilion and the Marina had a number of birds of interest. The first migrant BLACK TERNS into Salt Lake County for the fall were feeding over the large holding pond on the south of I-80 near the marina. 2 YELLOW WARBLER were in teh trees at the marina where the Northern Waterthrush was last week. Highlights were as follows:
