An evening after work spent birding Swede and River Lanes in Utah County
provided some decent birding. A lone EASTERN KINGBIRD greeted me on Swede
Lane with a nice close look. Also found a pair of BLUE GROSBEAKS, a couple
of those ubiquitous WESTERN WOOD PEE-WEES, SWALLOWS galore, and a couple
large flocks of WHITE FACED IBIS continuing the trend I have noticed in the
skies over the last few days. The only Swede warbler found was a lone YELLOW
by the end of the road.
River Lane included COMMON NIGHTHAWKS everywhere including a really close
look at a snoozer in a tree. Another BLUE GROSBEAK, a couple of GRAY
CATBIRDS heard rather than seen, YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS, YELLOW WARBLERS, a
lone NASHVILLE WARBLER, a GRAY FLYCATCHER (or so my mind, eyes, and Sibley
tell me but I am hardly a flycatcher expert) and my personal highlight a
WARBLING VIREO.
Thanks to the nice couple from Provo who shared some birding with me.
