Hi all,

Jeff Bilsky and I spent the afternoon birding around the Salt Lake
International Center. We found a number of flocks that contained numerous
flycatchers and warblers, and there were definitely a lot of migrants
around. I'm not sure I've seen such a high concentration of MacGillivray's
Warblers before! Nearly every patch contained at least one MacGillivray's
Warbler with the majority being first years or females. We found quite a
few Wilson's and Nashville Warblers, as well as a lone Orange-crowned
Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat. Western Wood-Pewees and Hammond's
Flycatchers seemed to be the most numerous flycatchers. It's interesting to
compare these results with those of Kris' at Garr Ranch.

Also of interest...a number of our biggest flocks seemed to be using
tamarisk (salt cedar) patches surrounded by other decidious trees, which I
found quite surprising.

Colby
