Hi,
What with the cheep gas (pun intended) Bob Huntington and I decided to bird
the East Canyon Reservoir area. There are 40+ Common Loons and one very easy
to identify Pacific Loon. It has a very light gray head and neck, and of
course the smaller size, and smaller bill.
We saw A. Robins, Cedar Waxwings, House Finches, Belted Kingfisher, A.
Goldfinch, C. Raven, White-crowned Sparrows, BB Magpie, Common Mergansers,
Green-winged Teal, Ring-billed Gulls, Western and Clark's Grebe, Golden Eagle,
Pied-billed Grebe, and Lesser Scaup.
We came back past Echo Reservoir, but did not see much on the lake and did
not stop. We went around Rock Port Reservoir, and there were lots and lots of
gulls, some Common Loons, Ruddy Ducks, and a lone Townsend's Solitaire and one
Mountain Bluebird. We did not spend a lot of time there. We already got the
target bird of the day and came home.
