Greetings:

The following information is passed on at the request of Jay Banta, Manager
at Fish Spring NWR.


Fish Springs NWR Christmas Bird Count.



We again extend an invitation to all to come and join us at the great
migrant and rarity trap of the West Desert .  Our count will be held on
January 4th.  The main count will start at 9:30 am at the Refuge
Headquarters.  I suspect that Terry Sadler will be out trying to find an owl
or two earlier then that and if he does others can tag along!



As is tradition now, *pre-registered* participants will be permitted to stay
the night before and the night of the count in our Refuge bunkhouse if they
wish.  And as always, the group count collation/ wine fest/ Jay's famous
chili feed will happen after we finish counting about 5 pm or so.



Once again we will be engaged in a friendly competition with our sister
Refuge, Ouray NWR, to see who can tally the greatest number of species.  We
have lost this competition two years in a row and my count Captains are
under great duress for not producing!  I am expecting big counts and
anticipate that we will simply blow the competition out of the water this
year!  Be part of the rout!
