Did a Cache Valley patrol today, trying to scare up some more birds for my
year list. Visited First Dam (Logan), Mack Park (Smithfield), Smithfield
and Richmond Cemeteries, Richmond WMA/Cherry Ck, Cove, Clarkston, and Benson
Marina. Nothing new, but a PRAIRIE MERLIN (Richardson's) in Cove, at 13200
N / 1200 E, just off US 91 was a nice surprise, although I don't think the
Rock Pigeons shared my enthusiasm.

Other highlights were more BARROW'S GOLDENEYES at First Dam in Logan; 25
birds, up from 16 on Nov 16. The three FERRUGINOUS HAWKS roosting in
Clarkston have been joined by a fourth; all are light-morph birds. Three
were roosting in the same trees on the northwest corner of Center / 100 W;
one of them took off and headed west to join a fourth bird roosting in a
large snag (? 300 W / 150 S ?).  A hatch-year BALD EAGLE was northbound over
Richmond WMA / Cherry Ck.

Good birding, Craig.
