Stephanie Cobbold and I walked from First Dam to the end of the Canal
Trail in Logan today. We saw the BARROW'S and COMMON GOLDENEYES that
are regulars in winter at First Dam. The highlight along the Canal
Trail was a small flock of five LESSER GOLDFINCHES, listed on the 2008
Cache County Checklist as "occassional" in fall. Other birds were as
expected, including Song Sparrows, House Finches, Black-capped
Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos (all Oregon subspecies as far as I could
tell), Spotted Towhees, Black-billed Magpies, etc.
If anyone is interested, there is a poor digiscoped shot of the
LONG-TAILED DUCK reported in Logan yesterday posted on my blog. The
link is below.
Good birding,
Ryan
