[Birdtalk] red bird

Red Crossbill may be right but witting on a willow by the river doesn't
sound like the right habitat for Red Crossbill. I've seen Red
Crossbills on the ground taking gravel and at feeders but otherwise they
are in tree tops. Are there coniferous trees close by? And they
usually aren't as bright as it sounds like this bird was. If I lived
close enough I'd go check this one out. Vermillion Flycatcher prefers
riparian areas and it says in Sibley, "found in open bushes or trees
near water".
