Message: I am new to utahbirds.org, so this may not be a new sighting for Utah, but I observed a pair of courting Ringed turtle Doves in my yard in Washington Terrace on April 30, 2008. Every year I get a lot of Mourning Doves in my yard when the snow melts. At first I thought I was seeing albino Mourning doves until I got a good look at them with my binoculars. Their distinctive black bands on the back of the neck and their brown flight feathers at the tips of their wings were obvious. All of my field guides say they are naturalized in the Los Angeles area, but no mention of elsewhere. Also, the first hummingbird to my hummingbird feeders on April 30 was a male Calliope hummer.
