I forced myself away from work long enough to spend a few hours in the
sunshine this afternoon. It was nice to see spring birds arriving or
passing through on their way to points north. I didn't see anything
unusual, but did make a few noteworthy observations:
- my first willet of the season was seen in the wetlands about a mile
north of the bobolink fields in Genola, and two sandhill cranes in
roughly the same area
- 22 snow geese were seen in the Benjamin slough area
- more Clark's grebes and American white pelicans on Utah Lake between
Lincoln beach and LeBaron point
- tree swallows in a number of place along the south end of the lake
- a flock of 60 or more common ravens in Elberta, along with a
ferruginous hawk and a great-horned owl.
