Following David Allan's post about the Say's Phoebe, I thought I'd share too. We had a Say's Phoebe show up at the wildlife education center at Bear River Refuge around Valentine's Day. Bridget Olson mentioned it in her weekly waterbird report that week. The bird has remained here since then, and last week started flying around the back of our building, in and out of an alcove area behind the big outdoor chiller unit. We wonder if it's thinking about nesting back there; so we'll keep an eye on the situation!

Last spring we had a Say's Phoebe show up early too, so we're wondering if it's the same bird. Our visitors who come from "the East" have been enjoying the sighting. Of course, we all do too - the volunteers who come to work each day always want an update - and like having it out on the observation deck, hunting for food.
