I also was talking to Justina, and the other comment made was to view the Herons from your cars in the parking lot or on Glover Lane. There was one other concern that I had, and maybe those who know nesting habits best can reply. There was an owl nesting box mounted on the heron poles, and I questioned that decision due to the fact that different species don't like nesting close together. I would also think owls would be predators of the chicks. What do others who know more about this have to say, and I would appreciate comments. I did call Rich, who is the Farmington Bay Manager, and left a message on his phone making him aware of my concerns.

  Hi Birder Buddies,
I was volunteering today at the Great Salt Lake Nature center (Farmington Bay), and the director, Justina Parson-Bernstein, asked me to post a message to this mailing list, requesting that people not walk near the Great Blue Heron nests. We fear that the birds will not establish nests there this year. Every time someone walks in the parking lot nearest the Heron poles, the birds fly away.
  Please spread the word.
  Thanks,
  Doug Roberts
