Prior to heading up Green Canyon, the Sommerfeld's Colby and I met up wiht Ryan O'Donnell and did a little birding around Cache County. We started at the Logan River Golf Course river walk from Rendevous Park, where it was a litle quiet. Highlights inlcuded a FOX SPARROW along the railroad tracks and a ragged looking Marmot in a wood pile.

Next we headed out to the Wetlands along the west side of the landfill, which had several WILSON'S PHALAROPE, a SPOTTED SANDPIPER and a smattering of waterfowl. Along the north side of the landfill we observed Franklin's GUll, Forster's Tern and a lone Sandhill Crane.

Near the Little Bear River we had a lone singing BOBOLINK, and at another stop further to the west in the valley a VIRGINIA RAIL.

Up Green Canyon, besides the WHIP-POOR-WILL, we also had several singing Common Poorwill, Flammulated Owl, Dusky Flycatcher, Ruffed Grouse, a singin LINCOLN'S SPARROW, and numerous other montane species including a hnadful of calling Tanagers.

Good Birding, and Thanks again Ryan!
