Betsy et, all,
And this isn't really directed at you Betsy, you can use my images any time!
>>The paper doesn't have a budget to pay photographers
If they have the money to pay someone to write an article they have the
funds to pay for a photo. Although I often allow small town papers to use
images, and non-profit organizations as well, when I see a mention of "no
budget" from a company, like the Deseret News for instance I cringe. The
Deseret News is owned by Deseret News Publishing Company, a subsidiary of
Deseret Management Corporation, which is a for-profit business holdings
company owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which has
assets exceeding $30 billion dollars.
No money to pay for photographs, who are we kidding? Take into account how
many local photographers there are I am sure there will be no problem in
getting images for this article, especially with a diluted pool of ameteur
photographers (including myself, I'm nowhere near pro). What really bothers
me, is how many companies, etc try to get images for free just because they
claim a lack of funds.
My 15 cents ont his topic that often raises my blood pressure! I've only
dropped several thousand on camera equipment over the years, if someone
really really wants to use an image they can afford a few bucks for the
privelege to use my work...
Cheers,
Tim
