I completed my Promontory Breeding Bird Survey this morning, and will share a few comments.

I found a Eurasian Collared Dove, which is the first time I've seen this species along the Promontory Road.

Burrowing owls were recorded in 3 places, but no short-eared owls. (I did not have a single short-eared owl on any of my 3 survey routes this year).

I saw NO black-billed magpies. They're out there in abundance in the spring, so I'm wondering where they all go in the summer.

There were lots of fledglings present - horned lark, meadowlark, lark sparrow, loggerhead shrike, raven, great horned owl, long-billed curlew and starling.

Grasshopper sparrows can be found several places along Promontory Road - I heard them singing in more places than I normally do. Hope that's a good sign.

There were 7 gorgeous Caspian terns sitting along the edge of the pond at Thiokol Ranch.
