Yesterday evening I took a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon just to get out of the city. Silver Lake still had ICE on some portions... Which went along nicely with the 3-8' snow drifts still surrounding the lake... What a contrast to last June!
Not a lot bird wise.... At the feeder at the condo near the Brighton Resort were a handful of White-crowned Sparrow and a lone Dark-eyed Junco. A number of other mountain regulars were heard and seen.
Just east of The Spruces campground a male Williamson's Sapsucker was seen flying across the road and then working its way up the trunk of a spruce just off the highway.
At Storm Mountain numerous White-throated Swifts could be seen against the cliffs! The water was way high and way fast in the creek and I no dippers were seen...
Good Birding
