Observation date:     6/1/08
Notes:     most birds heard while biking up the canyon to little mountain
pass
Number of species:     27

Turkey Vulture     3 - flying around at pass
Mourning Dove     2 - flyovers
Black-chinned Hummingbird     1
Broad-tailed Hummingbird     4
Cordilleran Flycatcher     1 - heard this one sing about 3/4 up canyon
Plumbeous Vireo     1 - singing at the last switchback before little
mountain pass
Warbling Vireo     25 - second most common song
Western Scrub-Jay     2
Barn Swallow     X
Black-capped Chickadee     2
House Wren     1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher     8
American Robin     20
Orange-crowned Warbler     2 - singing
Virginia's Warbler     2 - probably more, but definitely two heard singing
on oak hillsides
Yellow Warbler     25 - many singing along creek
MacGillivray's Warbler     4 - probably more, but two that i distinctly
remember with one near final switchback
Green-tailed Towhee     5 singing near pass
Chipping Sparrow     4 - singing
Fox Sparrow     2 - heard at last switchback
Song Sparrow     8
Black-headed Grosbeak     13 - many singing
Lazuli Bunting     50 - singing everywhere!
Bullock's Oriole - 2 singing - with one about 3/4 of the way up!
House Finch     5
Pine Siskin     4 - flyovers
Lesser Goldfinch     1 - doing 'peeer' call
American Goldfinch     3 - singing at different points

Noticeable misses that were not heard included dusky flycatcher, swainson's
thrush, gray catbird and western tanger...although i'd imagine these are all
present
