My advice would be for anyone with a good scope to head out to AI. It was
quite active today. Red-Necked Phalaropes as far as the eye can see. Also
had a group of 20+ Marbled Godwits, a Whimbrel and several Curlews. On the
island had a nice look at a Grasshopper Sparrow and some of the other
usuals. The Ranch didn't have much going on but I did have a lone Eastern
Kingbird nearby and I thought I saw a Kingbird looking bird with rufous
highlights on the tail but didn't get a good enough look to turn it into
anything. Reminded me of the Great Crested FC I saw down in Florida
recently. But it was 100 degrees so I may've been drinking the magic bird
juice. In any case, the causeway seemed the place to be with all the distant
shorebirds and I assume peeps. But me without a scope....good luck you would
be thrill seekers.
