This morning I saw a Semipalmated Plover at the Mitigation Ponds, aka Sue's Pond, on the west side of the Logan Landfill. It was on the west end of the pond that has the barrier lining to prevent plants from growing. My first instinct when I saw the bird was that it was a juvenile Killdeer, but the field marks were correct and when a Killdeer passed by the bird, the size difference was obvious. I also saw a female Marbled Godwit at the next pond to the north. There were some peeps in the area, but I could not get a good look at them. From the shape of the peeps, they may have been Least Sandpipers.
Thanks.
Buck Russell
