Thanks Mark! (And others)
I haven't seen a Northern Mockingbird before.
FOR ALL BIRDERS:
What's the story for Stansbury Island? It's BLM land it appears. So they can lease it out for mining and quarry work? Seem like it ought to be another state park. Could it be viewed as an Important Bird Area?
In that same album, the end, are 3 pictures taken at Energy Solutions, where low grade nuclear waste is stored. This was not at Stansbury Island, but furthur west. I had a good conversation with the guard. We should organize a tour and visit there some day, and see what all the controversy is about.
Sorry if I'm too off-topic. Where else to discuss with Utah birders who care about the planet?
Thanks
Doug Roberts

Douglas,
Your bird looks like a Northern Mockingbird to me.

I took a little ride out to Stansbury Island on June 13. This island is west of Antelope Island. Have you ever been there? There are some beautiful mountain peaks and valleys, surrounded by a sometimes PINK Great Salt Lake. I saw just a few birds. See the "Mystery Bird", the first picture in the album. It flicked it's tail a lot. Can you identify it? I think that is it's mate flying above and left.
I was dismayed to see all the quarrying work on Stansbury Island. On the other hand, it was great to see that a new public hiking trail is being established.
Lots of pictures, few birds.
