This morning (07/04), Colby Neuman, Jeff Bilsky and I headed to Bridal Veil Falls to look for the previously reported Black Swifts. We spent from sunrise to just after 8am looking through hordes of Violet-green and Cliff Swallows and swarms of White-throated Swifts trying to find the slightly larger and all black aerial acrobats.

Despite our best efforts and numerous large and dark swifts, we could not definitively call any of the swifts--Black...

Most of the swifts were quite high and/or distant and often backlit or against a cold gray sky making picking out the white on the White-throated a task in itself.

We next headed to Goshen to look around. No White Ibis... No Bobolink... But both Cattle and Snowy Egret, as well all the other usual suspects.

Colby headed off to southern Utah while Jeff and I continued to Woodland Hills which was void of Lewis's Woodpeckers.

All in all it seemed the general theme of the day was "unsuccessful chasing".

Good Birding
