I must revise my post. Who in their right mind could mistake Wilson Snipes for Dowitchers?
Sorry folks. I saw the birds only briefly and from a distance and thought they sure looked like Dowitchers.
But alas they were just your plain old Wilson's Snipes foraging near the Great Egret. Duh!
Anyways, thanks for all the replies on the pipits. I guess I personally never see many pipits about during the winter.
