I don't want to disillusion Connie, but Harris's Hawks (aka Bay-winged Hawk,
Dusky Hawk) actually hunt cooperatively, with groups of 5 being most
successful. See:
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Harriss_Hawk.html. For
this reason they are popular with falconers.
These beautiful raptors also nest in social communities. They are found
along the southwest border region of the U.S. This species was named by
Audubon after his friend Edward Harris.
I have watched and photographed them feeding on carrion together with
Caracaras. The latter have weak feet and so must defer to the Harris's
Hawks.
