[Birdtalk] Eurasian Collared-Dove & Feeders

A few years back, I had 2 Eurasian
Collard-Doves which increased to 5 the next year. They would feed
occasionally at the ground feeder and were tolerated by all species
alike: Mourning Dove, Dark-eyed Junco, Spotted Towhee, House Finches,
California Quail, etc, etc. I thought that the Mourning Doves would
start to be displaced, but this never happened;in fact Mourning Doves
were still breeding in the area and bringing their young to the
feeders, which also tolerated the Eurasian Collard-Doves.
I'm not
sure what the feeder dynamics are now, since I no longer live in SLC
and there probably isn't a feeder there anymore either.

Subject: [Birdtalk] Eurasian Collared-Dove & Feeders
Last winter, I had my first Eurasian Collared-Dove sighting in my yard (Draper).
This year, we have 3 hitting the feeder daily.
Has anyone else begun to see changes in bird feeder dynamics now that the Collared Doves are around?
Seems like when they fly in, the House Finches and Juncos scatter for a few minutes. Scrub Jays don't seem to mind the intrusion.
The only good news, it appears they are "hawk bait". Last weekend, we had a Cooper's take a pass at one. No joy - for me or the hawk!. First Cooper's here in a few years.
