I wanted to pass along a message from Justina and Rich at the Farmington Bay Nature Center.

The Blue Herons are returning to the man made rookery and looking very domestic now setting up housekeeping. Many people have stopped to look at them and take pictures which is great. She and Rich the Manager of Farmington Bay have asked however that no one approach the rookery on foot and to please stay on the road (Glover Lane) or the Nature Center Parking lot.

Some people left the parking lot the other day and walked up for a closer look and scared off all the Blue Herons which did not return until late in the day.

They are looking in to the possibility of putting up some observation blinds so people can watch them without disturbing them.

P.S. I saw a large group of Sandhill Cranes the other evening fly over the Nature Center.

Spring is coming

Thanks and happy birding
Steve
