I was at AIC today & saw the Ruff at MM4. I was able to observe it for
a few minutes, but about 1/2 mile away was a family with very noisy
children that decided to take a little stroll down the beach. Even
though those people were still a long ways away, their racket was loud
enough to disturb the ruff and most of the killdeer. I tried to
relocate the ruff again, nut mever could. Someone told me to look
around the rock jetty as they had seen it there, but no luck.
I am very glad I had the opportunity to see this bird. Who would have
thought it would have been here in UT? Pretty blazin' amazin'.
Thanks to those who sounded the alarm and sent photos. I would return
tomorrow, bit I promised Bill I would help him him with a project he's
got.
OTHER BIRDS
Northern harrier. 3
Bald eagle. 7
Northern shoveler. TNTC
Gulls ( no ID). TNTC
Horned larks. 35
Ring-necked pheasant. 5
Killdeer. 200
Rough-legged hawk. 1
Raven. 12
American kestrel. 1
And of course, the wonderful Ruff
I did NOT see the snow bunting or the Lapland longspur. I did see one
bird about the size of a robin, but he disappeared before I could get
a good look at it.
What a day!
