Birded the East Bay Golf Course Ponds after work, as the sun was setting.
Best birds were a GREATER YELLOWLEGS and an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW. When I
first saw the Yellowlegs, it was in flight and it's legs looked Orange and I
was all kinds of confused. Called Mr. Avery for a free consult and he helped
me figure out that indeed there is no such thing as a Greater Orangelegs. I
refound the bird and eliminated any doubts. There were good numbers of birds
around - in the setting sun I also thought I saw a sparrow with a black face
but of course it flushed before I could get a good look. Gotta love this
thing we call birding.
