[Birdtalk] Sharpie

Well, the yard birds just keep getting better and better. The birds were
very active at the feeder today and I was hoping the Gray-crowned rosy-finch
would return, hopefully with friends. 2 ring-necked pheasant hens came by
for a while. One actually got on top of the table rather than peck around
on the ground. Several young male Red-winged Black birds mobbed the place,
but no rosy-finches. I started lusting (I'm told the proper term is to
"Pron for") a new camera (I hate the new on I bought last May) and ignored
the feeding frenzie. I noticed out of the corner of my eye something moving
and perched in the crab apple bramble was a lovely young Sharp Shinned Hawk!
Follow the link to the photos. I also took a movie, but there wasn't a lot
going on as he perched there, just his head moving around. So I turned off
the camera and he took off. rotten luck. This little Sweetheart perched a
bout 10 - 15 feet from my dining room window for about 15 minutes or so.
 What a TREAT!
