Took a quick drive around the PAD this afternoon. Not much out there other than white-crowned and Song Sparrows. It was windy, cold and snowing. The moat and Provo Bay are iced over with just a small open area way out in the middle of the bay. The lake is still open water.
I had my best ever response to a pish. I heard a song sparrow calling from and open, sparse, weedy field. I pished twice and 11 song sparrows and 6 white-crowneds popped up simultaneously and landed at the top of weed heads. It was like a bunch of synchronized swimmers popping out of the water in perfect unison.

I scouted my CBC area (North Orem, East Lindon) for a few hours on Saturday with Matt Mills. We birded a little down the Bonneville shoreline trail south from dry canyon and spent a little time in Dry Canyon. Cold and windy. 2 juncos and 2 towhees were all we saw, they were near the mouth of dry canyon. Nothing in the canyon. We saw a large flock of a couple hundred Am Robins in the neighborhood south of the Orem Cemetery. (Nothing in the Cemetery by the way.) I hope there is more to count on count day.
