I just returned from a few hours at the south end of Utah Lake. It was a bit
breezy but mostly sunny and beautiful. There were a few surprises. A western
grebe remained, along with a young bird that was roughly one-half adult
size. There were several hundred Canada geese far out on the water, nearer
the western shore than the eastern. One of the birds appeared to be a snow
goose, and it also appeared that four American white pelicans were hugging
the vegetation along the western shore. And a bald eagle was seen perched on
a rock, a few feet from shore, just north of the now abandoned bank swallow
colony.
