The consensus is that I probably saw something other than a Gyrfalcon last 
week, and I agree.  Today I attended a falconry demonstration just east
of Park City and talked a bit with the falconer.  He had a couple of 
Gyrfalcons as part of his show, and I'm convinced that wasn't what I saw.  
The wings of my bird were wider and less pointed.  He thought I might have 
seen a Red-Tail, but I don't think the color was right, which leaves 
Goshawk as the most likely.

Anyway, thanks to all of you who responded.  It was fun to learn more 
about the possibilities.
