[Birdtalk] re: Time for Birders to Flock Together

I agree that we need lively, respectful, debate on issues. That seems
to me to be a valid use of BirdTalk. (BirdList being for truly rare
sightings only.) I emplor BirdTalk to stay open to such respectful debate.

I will add that making concern for environment and habitat as a
"liberal" issue is nonsense. The environment is the very air we breath,
the water we drink, and the land we live on and grow our food in. It is
in every single human being's interest to have a healthy environment.
It is not just the purview of so-called "liberals." It just so happens
that all non-human creatures on Earth breath the same air, drink the
same water, and eat from the same land. The two can not be separated.
We must move beyond politics and into a holistic view of our planet
Earth if we are to maintain a healthy and sustainable environment.
That's my two cents.

I intended it to say that I find it refreshing that Birdtalk isn't as rigid as some of the other lists I am on. That's what I meant when I said "Viva la difference".

As I recall also, this whole thing probably would've ended early on with a simple disagreement between Tim and Steve until a third man entered the fray with a sarcastic albeit short rant.....
