Hi,
I took a couple of hours away from watching the hummingbird wars at home and
went to the ranch. Not much along the causeway, lots of gulls and numerous
phalaropes in flocks of 50 to 100 flying across. A few Wilson's and Red Necked
by the marina. Not much water either.
Along the road to the ranch were Sage Thrashers, a couple of Chukars and a
Burrowing Owl. Of course some bison and coyotes and Meadow Larks and ravens.
The ranch did not have a lot either. A lone Northern Waterthrush, Wilson's
Warblers, Western Tanagers, Lazuli Buntings, Warbling Vireos, and a couple of
empids. I did not spend a lot of time there, but it seems to be a bit early
for warbler migration. Probably tomorrow.
Jack
