Yesteday (08/09), Jeff Bilsky and I birded Antelope Island Causeway and Garr Ranch. Shorebird migration appears to have slowed with most of the phalarope having alread moved through. Pockets of Wilson's remained, but the majority of birds present were Red-necked. Several peeps were seen up close, including 6 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, and 4 surprise SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER. A number of BLACK-BELLIE DPLOVER remained on the mudflats, and an arriving American Pipit signaled passerine migration was happening. And 3 SANDHILL CRANES were feeding along the north side of th mudflats near MM6.

On the road to the ranch we stopped at several patches of trees, with Jeff responsible for most of the birding while I tried to photograph dragonflies. Between two stops there were a few migrant flycatchers. 1 Cordilleran and 2 Dusky were seen.

At the ranch there were few birds, but a number of migrants present, most notably an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER already back and headed south. Dusky Flycathcer and Western Wood-Pewee were also seen, as well as 8 Western Tanager and 3 Yellow Warbler. A lone Rufous Hummingbird flew by once as well.
