Subject: Whimbrel or Curlew?
Email_Address: baseball318 at hotmail.com
Message: I recently visited SLC from the east coast and while driving along the causeway from Antelope Island (July 24), I photographed a bird that I cannot identity. Birders in my area suggest either a juvenile Long-billed Curlew or a Whimbrel (I lean towards the former). Can anyone help?

The other picture in this gallery is of three American Avocets accompanied by a small shorebird that I think is a phalarope (Wilson's, maybe). I did see a group of of what I think were Red-necked Phalarope swimming along the causeway while on the way.
Finally, I photographed (not posted) a Ring-billed Gull and saw an Eared Grebe from along the causeway.
Thanks,
Cliff Otto
