[Birdtalk] reply to BirdTalk -- birdtalk in cc box

My suggestion would be to leave the BirdTalk listserve as it now is. People who want to use it can get used to it, even if it is necessary for them to ask specific questions of the Webmaster. Same with BirdNet.

Subject: [Birdtalk] reply to BirdTalk -- birdtalk in cc box

  Hi Doug and other BirdTalkers,

There is an option in BirdTalk to have reply go to the sender or to the whole group. The problem of having it go to the whole group is that if someone click "reply" thinking that it's going to go to the individual and writes something inappropriate for the whole group it could be quite embarrassing. (Not so bad the other way around -- if you think it's going to the whole group and it just goes to one individual).

When you click reply and the person's email address is in the "To" box you can replace it with the Bird Talk address (birdtalk at utahbirds.org<mailto:birdtalk at utahbirds.org>) and it will go back to the sender and to everyone else too. (If you cc it to BirdTalk then the sender gets it twice).

We've considered the options and decided to set it up the way it is (the "birdnet hotline" is set up the same way and I think for that listserv it's definitely better the way it is -- it would be confusing to have one one way and the other a different way, I think) , but if there are a lot of people who would like "reply" to go to everyone (who would like to live dangerously, maybe), we can certainly change it -- it IS an option.

  Alway good to get suggestions,
  Milt Moody
