[Birdtalk] new year birds

Got a couple I'd been looking for in the past couple of days. That puts
me at 245 for Utah this year, which is my best by quite a few. This could
be my year to hit 250.

A dusky grouse crossed my path as I biked up the Spiro Trail near the Park
City Resort. It was only about a half mile from the trailhead, which
surprised me. I'd been looking at higher elevations all spring and summer
with no luck. I usually see a lot of them, but not in '08.

The hummer feeders at Brighton were really busy this afternoon. Many
rufous hummers were mixed in with the broad-tailed at the cabin just
behind the store. The traffic was heavier than SL International, and much
more fun to watch.

Spent a couple of hours driving back and forth on the AI Causeway last
week, but couldn't find the Ruddy Turnstone. :-(

Good birding!
