I guess I'll report on my yard birds too. I had a pretty good day today at the feeders.
26 Lazuli Buntings at once. Must be more than that because they are always coming and going. They have been here for a week but this is the most I have ever seen at once. Tip- they like millet on tray feeders or on the ground.
At least 12 Evening Grosbeaks. I filled my sunflower feeders before work yesterday and it was all gone when I got home. Now I know who the culprits are. Them and the at least 21 Cassin's Finches (that's the most I've seen at once today).
Had my first Black-chinned Hummingbird of the year today. I've been hearing Broad-tailed Hummingbirds in the canyons for a few days now. Heard the first one in the yard yesterday and I've been seeing him today. Plus Orange-crowned Warbler, a Pheasant and a Kestrel.
Plus all the regulars. American and Lesser Goldfinches, Pine siskin, House Finch, House Sparrow, Mourning Dove, Mallard, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Quail, Scrub Jay, White-crowned Sparrow (the Dark-eyed Juncos have left). Starling, Robin, Downy Woodpecker.
I haven't seen them today but the day before yesterday and for a few days before that I had a Green-tailed Towhee and a Lincoln's Sparrow.Eric Huish Pleasant Grove UT poorwill_ at hotmail.com 801-360-8777
