This morning I spend 2 hours birding the trails on the south side of BYU campus. There was a fair amount of passerine activity and very little human activity, so it made for good birding.
Here are some of the highlights:
California Quail: 1, more heard.
Hairy Woodpecker: 1
Northern 'Red-shafted' Flicker: 1 picking soil out of the cracks along the wall. I walked right up to it as it clung to the side of the stones.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet: ~10-12
Orange-crowned Warbler: 5
Virginia's Warbler: 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler: 1 Audubon's
Spotted Towhee: 2
Vesper Sparrow: 1
Lazuli Bunting: 2-3
Cassin's Finch: 22
Cheers,
Matt Mills
