I was home today working on the computer when I took a break at noon. I looked out the window and saw a buteo fly by. I grabbed my binoculars and noticed two raptors flying out of view. So I went out front. There were two Red-tails and an im Bald Eagle circling just to the north of the yard. Farther north there were 4 more buteos circling. So I walked round the house where I could get a view to the south and there were more coming.
>From the backyard today -
41 Red-tailed Hawks
36 Unidentified Buteo/eagles (probably mostly Red-tails)
1 Bald Eagle
1 Cooper's Hawk
3 Sharp-shinned Hawks
5 Unidentified Accipiters (I think one may have been a Goshawk)
2 American Kestrels
27 Turkey Vultures
at least 116 Raptor/vultures in all so far
Most (109) flew over between Noon and 1:30
I live a few blocks northeast of the High School in Pleasant Grove. (Utah Co.) - It's been Overcast with a breeze from the south.Eric Huish Pleasant Grove UT poorwill_ at hotmail.com 801-360-8777
