[Birdtalk] Another Causeway Eagle

Buck Russell's Bald Eagle sighting at Porcupine Reservoir in Cache County
yesterday reminded me that I saw another Bald Eagle pursue the great swarms
of birds north of Antelope Island Causeway along the edge of Howard Crane
WMA in Davis County today, and then snatch something in flight. I saw this
happen in July as well. Today's bird stood on the ground while pumping up
and down like an oil drilling rig; I presume motion meant that the eagle was
plucking its prey.

As with the July sighting, the distance was extreme and I wouldn't have
noticed until the flocks of birds began to boil off the mudflats in tightly
packed flocks to evade the predator.

Later in the afternoon, Steve, Cindy, Tim and I watched this again, but this
time, the predator was a Peregrine.
