Davis County:
-- A probable POMARINE/PARASITIC JAEGER was located by Tim Avery on Thursday,
September 20th at Farmington Bay WMA on a tip from Steve Sommerfeld, who
belived he had seen a jaeger the night before. The bird was seen again on the
21st, and has been hanging around the rest pond to the east of West Dike near
the 2nd bridge at the airboat launch. There has been some debate online as to
the ID of the bird. However, based off in field observations, the bird
appeared to be a Pomarine.
-- An adult LEAST FLYCATCHER was reported by Tim Avery on Wednesday, September
19th at Garr Ranch. This date is rather late for an adult of this species
anywhere in the lower 48.
-- A juvenile SABINE'S GULL was reported by Tim Avery on Wednesday, September
19th along the Antelope Island Causeway between MM3 and 4. This is the 4th
report of a Sabine's at the causeway in the past week.

at Garr Ranch. The bird was observed by several people on the 17th, as well as
the 18th.

Smith in Croydon. The bird was most recently reported on Tuesday, September
18th. For more information about this, species please see the RBA Archives at:

-- A first winter BLACKPOLL WARBLER was reported by Tim Avery on Sunday,
September 16th, at the Salt Lake International Center, near 5600 West and 600
North. Subsequent attempts to find the bird on the 17th were unsuccessful.
-- A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was reported by Tim Avery on Sunday, September 16th,
at the Salt Lake International Center along Wright Brothers Drive near Amelia
Earhart Drive. The bird was with a flock of 400-500 Chipping Sparrows, and was
relocated by several birders on the 17th.

about 7 miles east of Bluff and about 0.25 miles north of the San Juan river.

the Provo Airport Dike between the southeast corner and the southeast corner of
the south extension.
Washington County:
-- A first winter CAPE MAY WARBLER was reported by Larry Tripp and Peyton Cook
on Sunday, September 16th at the Red Hills Golf Course in St. George. The very
drab bird represents a potential 1st state record, and was also seen by Rick
Fridell. Attempts to locate the bird the following day were unsuccessful.

Sept 27th (Thu): Great Salt Lake Audubon 6th Annual Gala - Our theme for this
years event is Our Birds: Linking Communities across the Americas and
emphasizes the connectedness between far away places. For instance, many of the
birds we see at the Great Salt Lake also travel to Canada and then to Mexico or
Central and South America. The birds remind us that what happens here can
influence others half a globe away and that the reverse is also true. Don Paul,
Great Basin Bird Conservation Region Coordinator for the Intermountain West
Joint Venture, will be our honored guest speaker for the evening. Don will
showcase the birds that annually travel to and from the Great Salt Lake and
will describe the linking partners program that is being developed. If you
cannot make the gala, please consider donating an item or service that could be
included in our silent auction. By doing so you'll help Audubon and receive a
tax-deduction (you will receive a receipt for tax purposes). Reservation Form -
