A rather nice day along the lakefront. Temps cooler than my past two visits,
there was a slight breeze most of the morning, and stronger winds from the west
in the afternoon. Massive numbers of Eared Grebe to the west of the last
bridge at the causeway. Numerous (1,000's) of dabblers most of which were
Green-winged and Cinnamon Teal occupied the mudflats to the north of the
causeway between MM5 and the entrance gate.

The gates at Farmington Bay are once again open and the public can now access
the main parking area. Lots of birds in the rest unit to the east of the main
north-south road.

A few pictures are at the bottom of the post.

Location: Antelope Island - Garr Ranch
(11:45am - 2:15pm partly w/ Glenn Barlow, etc)
Number of species: 58

The BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was found near the Spring House and made rounds
through the housing area. It also managed to make its way out about 20 yards
west of the spring house as well. I got Bob Huntington and 2 English birders
from France on the bird, and called Glenn Barlow to come back and see the bird
as he had already left. My initial thought was that it was a juvenile bird,
but after looking over the literature, I think it is instead another female
bird, but a different bird from the 9th as this bird had much broader and
darker streaks down the flanks.

  12 Hermit Thrush
   1 Orange-crowned Warbler

Location: Salt Lake International Center
(5:50 - 7:50pm parts w/ Larene Wyss, The Beyer's and The Sommerfeld's)
Number of species: 30

I met with Larene Wyss at 5:50 to look for the CCSP near Earhart and Wright
Bros. We got a quick glimpse of the bird, but the traffic kept the flock
constantly moving. The Beyer's joined us a short while later, and the bird was
relocated in the median about 100 yards north of Earhart. We then headed to
5600 west and met up with the Sommerfeld's, and birded till dark.

   300 White-faced Ibis
2 Red-naped Sapsucker (one on each end of the center)
     1 Dusky Flycatcher
     2 House Wren
     3 Ruby-crowned Kinglet
    12 Yellow-rumped Warbler
     2 TOWNSEND'S WARBLER (both along 5600 West)
     2 MacGillivray's Warbler
     1 Wilson's Warbler

   500 Chipping Sparrow
1 CLAY-COLORED SPARROW (same location as yesterday)
     7 White-crowned Sparrow
