Hi Everyone,
We don't have a lot of birds to talk about this time of year. The hummers
are migrating, but we still get several a day. We are going through 4-6
ounces of nectar a day. I can tell these are migrating hummers, they are
not used to us being out watching them.
The reason I wanted to post is because of the Pine Siskins. We are seeing
the same record numbers that Kris and Stephen posted about earlier. We have
Lesser's and Siskins. I haven't seen any American's for a while. We don't
take a lot of notes so I can't give you dates and amounts but we haven't had
Siskins all summer. Now we are inundated with adults and we also have
FEARLESS babies. They are so cute. They will stay on the feeder while I
pull it down, they will stay next to the water when you walk over to fill
it. It's amazing.
I had no idea there would be any baby birds this late in the season, but
they are sooo cute.
We have our usual Sharpies visiting once a day. Two days ago we had a
Coopers. They visit once a week or so.
Our Woodpeckers are back and the Flickers are returning.
If the weather wasn't so beautiful I would be sad at the dearth of our
summer friends. This is an odd time of year.
Happy Autumn!

I hope that my achievements in life shall be these -- that I will have
fought for what was right and fair, that I will have risked for that which
mattered, and that I will have given help to those who were in need that I
will have left the earth a better place for what I've done and who I've
been. ~ C. Hoppe
