I birded the Mount Ogden Exercise Trail above Mount Ogden Golf Course in
Ogden, Weber County, today. Birding was decent, although not overwhelming.
The habitat is mostly dry scrub oak with grassy openings, but at the lower
elevations bordering the golf course where the grass is well-watered, it's
more riparian and the species diversity is better. Higher up it's more
Western Scrub-jay/Spotted Towhee territory.

California Quail
Broad-tailed and Rufous Hummingbirds
Downy Woodpeckers and Northern Flicker
Gray Flycatcher*
Warbling Vireos
Western Scrub-jays and Black-billed Magpies
Black-capped Chickadees
House Wrens
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
American Robins
One each Orange-crowned, MacGillivray's and Wilson's Warblers
Western Tanagers
Spotted Towhees, Vesper and White-crowned Sparrows
Black-headed Grosbeaks
House Finches, Pine Siskins, American and Lesser Goldfinches

*Best bird of the hike; I don't see a lot of Grays and have never seen one
in Ogden. I enjoyed the heck out of that bird.

The trail system in the Ogden foothills is accessible from many places; I
parked at Marquardt Park about a half mile east of Harrison Blvd (SR-203) at
the intersection of 32nd and Taylor.
